I expected to see other diaries making this point--have not, I will.
In 2006 American voters sent a very clear message to Washington, the clearest message they could send in that election, in a Congressional victory more sweeping and unambiguous than the 1994 "revolution" (no matter what TIME put on the cover).
That message called for, first and foremost, an end to the Iraq occupation. Second, it called for change, fundamental change in the way the government has operated--defiant of voters, insensible to the needs of the American people and beholden to contributers.
Iowans just sent that message, again, in the only way they could, via the caucuses.
